Our purpose is to provide high quality Equine-assisted Services which deliver the TAUPO RFD programme outcomes through interaction and participation with horses:

We support those experiencing disability, mental health concerns, social and emotional challenges. Aiming to enhance confidence, independence and transferable skills and abilities, the programmes work holistically to understand and develop individual strengths and capabilities, to transform people’s lives in a positive way.
Our Taupo branch was officially established in 1987, located on Broadlands road. After many years of successful operation, Taupo RFD had the opportunity to move to a more central location with a life-time lease on a property on Poihipi road, where they are still located to this day. Lots of love, care and planning has gone into the facility and is now one of the best-equipped centres in the country.

I was born and raised in Taupō and have a very long, proud family history here (6th generation)... I have been riding and around horses for approx 35 years from trekking, Pony club, eventing, some western and riding track work. I have one daughter (Alex) who is horse mad too
HEAD COACH
Kerrie has ridden horses for most of her life a Taupo born and raised in Taupo with a strong sense of community. Kerrie has a wonderful family with 2 gorgeous children. Kerrie has the NZRDA level 3 coaching certificate.
LILY KING
COACH AND HORSE MANAGER
I have been living in Taupo since I was born. I have always been passionate about horses and caring for them, recently I have started getting back into riding. I finished college a couple years ago and I had previously volunteered here during school. I have my certificate in Equine skills level 2.
Our center is governed by a committee whose job is to oversee the general running and maintain H&S and other compliance standards. They generously share their skills, time and passion to make Taupo RFD awesome.
